Powder's a slow ride, tires you out a little more, only thing I hate about it is back when I first rode, I used to catch my edge on clumps hidden in the powder and it would throw me off balance and bail big, but powder's soft . . . . so no worries really

I've found that riding further back threw me off balance on landings, ducking out my stance helped me though, gave a lil more power to drive through the powder

but there are still no guarantee's that it will be all powder off east coast... bring your helmet just in case . . .

I bought these earlier this year.

Burton Clash
Flow Pro FS bindings
Northwave Fury boots

I'm still an amateur so let me know what you guys think about this setup.
That should do just fine.

My first pair of boots were Northwave and I didn't like them much, but maybe it was just the model. They were G4 Legends or something like that. I got a new pair of Salomon Synapse last year and they've been good so far.

Almost got the Flows myself but they seemed a little heavy. Nice fit and super convenient, though.

I used to think that equipment was pretty important, but I honestly don't think it makes a huge difference anymore. Friend of mine has been boarding for 13+ years and rides the oldest crappiest board ever with the old school boots that look like Doc Martens, and he still does the most ridiculous stuff.

I love my old snowboard and when it dies I'll probably buy another one. It's the Elan Element. I have some flow bindings (greatest since sliced bread IMO) and just was given some boots because my dog ate the old ones. I think i'll invest in some of the newfangled lightweight boots though. I'm tired of the clodhoppers!

Don't skimp on the Boots or bindings in that order.

You can get by for the first 2 seasons with a average board, you'll be able to ding it, chip it, ride over sticks and rocks... after you get comfy scrap it and pick up something you like, the boots and bindings you can bring with you to your new board.

100%

Get a board you don't mind destroying. Get boots and bindings that are comfortable and well made. Board technology hasn't changed all that much over the past few years. Binding technology has changed leaps and bounds.
