I've quit coffee many times. Like some people mentioned, drink water. LOTS of water. Like, enough so that you have to pee like a racehorse.

That was my logic when I quit first time. I wondered how the hell I will stay awake. I figured....if I drink water, I will need to pee, and if you need to pee, you're not tired.

And fuk, you drink enough of that stuff, you will get HIGH. You will get an alert -buzz unlike anything coffee can do for you. But drink ALOT. I'm talking like 3 liters within a few hours.

Sure enough, people have actually DIED from too much water. But I heard you need to drink like 11 liters in order to be in danger of that, so don't worry. Just drink enough to get a good kick.

Water will keep you awake.

Also drinking too much is a possibility and tolerances vary from person to person so keep that in mind.

Pee away!

I'm actually kind of amazed that people get addicted to caffeine. I've never drank enough to even come close to any sort of dependency on it. I often have a cup of tea in the mornings at work, and an occasional soda at lunch or in the afternoon, but I could go a week without any caffeine and never notice. I guess some people just become addicted to substances easier than others... whether it's caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, or other drugs. Crazy stuff.
It may be that in the case of caffeine, people are not necessarily addicted to caffeine so much as they are addicted to the pleasure that comes from a productive day? It could be that someone who starts drinking coffee regularly finds they are happier because they get things done, they feel more awake, and so on. This type of pleasure is then sought out and reinforced by inducing cravings for coffee.

^ It could be that. But probably not. It's likely just caffeine addition.
