Notebook computer question
Ok, I have to buy a new notebook computer. I just noticed today a Tosiba sporting a Pentium 4 processor. I'd like a better screen on it (UXGA). Everyone else seems to have P III's. Can anyone give me a heads up if the P4s are being rolled out in Dells or Compaqs in the next few weeks?
Sony's tend to cheap out when it comes to gaming GPU's....
I have a Viao and it's crap compared to my friends Dell Inspiron...
Dell's lineup does not feature a P4 yet but they have surpassed the 1 Ghz mark.
And those Geforece4 Go GPU's look mighty tasty....imagine a notebook that can outperform most gaming machines out there...
Cheers,
Bryan

Dell Latitude - for the office - very stable, tried and true performance, guaranteed compatability with everything (just like the Optiplex line)
Dell Inspirons - for home/home office - latest and greatest in technology, not compatible with everything (just like the Dimension line)
Right now, looking at Dell's site here: http://www.dell.com/us/en/dhs/products/ser...n_notebooks.htm I don't see any P4's out at the moment, but I might be looking in the wrong spot.
Sony VAIO's - they are "nice" as in, they are a "nice" upgrade from a brother typewriter. (no offense, I hope) If I were to have one, I wouldn't be able to do much more than Microsoft Word and Excel. Just doesn't have the horsepower in vid or in the system. They appeal to a market though and its great that they sell to that market.

Ah, in tune with the world, Dell just put up the 8200 w/ P4 in 1.6Ghz / 1.7Ghz. Says it will ship in April with a new screen offering - Enhanced UXGA. I thought UXGA was the best.
Eh, who am i kidding, I'll do some Word, Email and an occasional DVD on the road. I should probably take the piker's way and go P3.

I have a dell inspiron P3, and i went all out when i loaded it, and it rocks. If you want to go buck wild, get one of those apple titanium laptops, they have DVD writers right inside and a widescreen display...I always hated apple until my friend in college got one, he also got that little apple MP3 player with it, very cool. they also run a linux based OS.
I have to disagree with a lot of people saying to buy a Dell. I love their desktops - I own one mysellf - but we buy their laptops exclusively where I work. They are very problem prone in both construction and functionality. We have such a high failure rate that our stock of loaners is consistantly out.
I'm lucky enough to have an ultra-portable IBM while my coworker has a Dell. I picked his up the other day and the quality between the two was immediately apparent. The dell's chassis twisted and the case creaked like an old chevy. It was awful.
