This is off topic, but a serious topic none the less......
Oh, I know you were not meaning to be hurtful, I was just saying, it will stay with me the rest of my life. Unfortunately on what is supposed to be a happy day, I have to sit back and think about it.

Trust me, no one's forgotten, and nobody will forget, for a long long time.
I think the war on terrorism is definitely in the forefront of societies consciousness at this point. However, I think that the connection between current activities (potential conflict in Iraq, etc.) and the initial cause (World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks) is becoming less clear each day.
I think regalracer is right in his hopes that the CAUSE not be forgotten since the media is doing everything it can to make sure that the EFFECTS stay with us 24x7...

Putting a flag on your car is at best symbolic. The real question is whether or not people still remember and have feelings about 9/11. In my experience, almost without fail the people I know all have strong feeling about this day, as do I. But so what? We're still at risk. Propose a solution. Make a difference. The statement behind this post doesn't do anything constructive. It just makes the poster feel like he's done something when in actuality he hasn't done anything.
im not trying to make it seek like i have done somthing. i just dont want everyone to forget what caused all the changes in life, the security every where you go, the war in afghanistan, and the such. i am try to get a spring fling drive/ fund raiser together in the pittsburgh area together for the spring of 03'. no orginization has been picked yet, nor has any one but one person seemed interested. i know i havnt done as much as i should or couldve to help, but i just think since its almost been a year ago, it seems that most people have forgoten about it.
Are we at risk? Of COURSE we are. From long before the day I was born we were at risk and until long after all of us are gone we will STILL be at risk. That's just the nature of the world we live in. If it's not a terrorist it's a vandal or a thief or a mugger or a murderer. This tragedy just hit a little closer to home than any in the past.
The point, at least to me, is that this post DID make a difference. It made me stop and think specifically about September 11. That day has been in the back of my mind since the first plane hit the tower, but regalracer's post brought it back to the front...even if just for a minute.
