oh man, and my old avatar! it was a freakin hand on a mouse damnit, tell me what's so unsafe about that? Some people are way to sensitive, it's one thing to restrict truly not safe for work stuff, and it's another to ban all material even with the slighest sexual suggestion.

Edit: maybe we should ban Kane.s2k for his avatar...

I guess I mean we, the users, are the site's customers. A business has to decide how to please it's customers. The site owners might decide they will keep more customers by censoring people's avatars, even when said avatar is a stuffed animal.

I'd like to weigh in on the other side, that they will lose more customers by doing that.

Just my opinion. I vote with my $$.

You are within your rights to view yourselves as "customers". I view my money sent to the site as a "donation", made of free will. I could have continued with no donation, as could anyone here. A "customer" is forced to pay money to get goods or services. Noone has been made to pay here. It has always been volunteer. And it has always been common knowledge that without "donations", there was a distinct possibility that the site would not continue in a state that we have enjoyed. Some of you may have forgotten that even before the ability to donate was formalized in a "click and run" format, many of us sent money to C3 anyway. Back then, none of us even saw the designation of "member". We did it to try to keep the site going.
When my wife and I "donate" to the church or to the heart fund or the burn unit at the hospital or other organization, we do not consider ourselves as customers nor do we expect anything in return. Also, we do not expect any say in how our money is spent. Heck, we don't even see our names on a plague - nothing. But every year, my wife writes this cheque and sends it away. I guess here, "giving" has more selfishness attached to it. Oh well.

Unfortunatley this is turning to a "us against them" Moderators against Members! I hope to find some common ground here. If you lose enough "Donations" it will matter - I have supported this site for almost two years and I have to admit this is the first place I visit in the morning and several times throughout the day and this is the first time I have actually been unhappy with the way it is being run ! I hope something changes soon.
