The Official OLYMPIC thred!
Let me be the first to start an Olympics thread. You can post anything here that's Olympic-related.
I am very excited about seeing the Olympic games.
P.S. Sonofamofo! I can't believe I mistyped the title.
It's "THREAD"!!!

I dunno attendance will be way down this year and for some reason I'm not excited at all? The last olympics also got horrible ratings. Maybe because of the drug doping athletes like marion jones just is like blah now.
Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't coverage of the 2000 olypics horrible? This year NBC plans to show every event on their networkds I think. And I am very excited about the olympics particualry soccer and weightlifting.
Ah, who cares about rating! I wanna see them run, swim, wrestle, lift weight, etc. I'm rooting for the Russians. Go Russian commies, go!
I'm just kidding! I know they're not commies anymore, but I like them.

Haha damn capatolist pigs.
Seriously though since it's no longer the Soviet Union Russia has sucked in sports. They lost in Hockey to America and Canada in the winter olympics, in the world cup they did absolutely terrible in their bracket, losing to like belgium and hungry (i think). I'm telling you it was those red uniforms that did it.

FYI - drug use in the Olympics is mainstream. In fact, Charlie Francis wrote a book about how rampant drug use is. He even said that those that win the medals are the ones using, and the losers are the ones who are clean. The IOC makes an example out of a few people each year to make it seem like they are doing something about it, but in reality, almost all the athletes are using some sort of performance-enhancing drug (i.e. steroid). What they need to do is make it a fair playing ground and let everyone use performance enhancers if they wish to do so. Otherwise, they need to start banning all your favorite athletes from winning, since they are doping. But if they did that, who would you root for? And how would they make money? It's a bunch of
and politics. I'm all for steriod/performance enhancers. I see nothing wrong with it if it's done safely (which these athletes do, since they have it down to a "T" and have top knotch coaches). Sure, it would be great knowing everyone is clean and that hard training and genetics get you to the podium, but it's not reality. And that's a whole other issue that we don't need to get into on this thread.
Anyway, I love the Olympics, and I enjoy watching several events including weightlifting, wrestling, sprinting, and men's and women's gymnastics. Those are the events you rarely see because they aren't glamourous enough for TV (except for gymnastics, it gets plenty of coverage). Or they show them late at night. So, I'm hoping that NBC will show better coverage of the other events other than the typical swimming, track and field and rhythmic gymnastics!!
