Been watching it with my family and it's pretty cool. It's been going on for almost 4 hours. I wish I could've been there.

I hope this does not get lost in this "Official Thread". But I watched the whole opening ceremony on NBC last night and there was something missing.

One of the reasons for gathering all the athletes together at the opening ceremony is for them to take the "Olympic Oath" together (one for the athletes and one for the judges). But it was missing last night. So did they do away with the oath now? Or maybe they really had it but it was not shown by NBC? If they did away with the oath, it is a further indication that the Olympics is selling out to "professional" competition. The original Olympic spirit is gone.

Watching the USA vs Brazil womens soccer game right now. Great game but is it me or is the US soccer team not as impressive as they used to be? Good game none the less. I hope they do well through the rest of the olympics. I can't wait for track and field to start!

The swimming competitions today were pretty good. I'm still waiting to see more events--tracking, boxing, wrestling, weight lifting, etc.
