is this old tale true?
I'm with Warren on this one. I am about 20 lb overweight myself but it is purely my fault for eating too much crap. The percentage of fat people who are fat because of some weird genetic condition is probably way under 1%.
To anyone who says fat is genetic I say look back a few generations in America or at present Europe or Asia. Sure there are the occasional fatties in history or in Europe but my experience in Europe has been they are much thinner. Are you going to tell me Frenchmen or Swedes have different DNA than Americans? No way, we are a nation of immigrants so we are carrying their DNA. The difference is having a frickin Mickey D's every 2 blocks and 64 ounce sodas at 7-11.
Put down the double bacon cheeseburger fatass! You will lose weight. I'm in glass house but I am throwing stones anyway!

it's not the fat in your diet, it's the carbohydrates man!
eat all the red meat u want but just don't have the bread, pasta or rice with it.
essentially as robert atkins says, u have to eat up to three times as much food to have the same caloric intake if u take out all the carbohydrates that u used to have.
however u will be surprised how hard things are to eat without bread, pasta or rice.
no fat chicks please!!!

I don't want to offend anyone, but this thread contains several untruths and misconceptions about the relationship between genetics and obesity. For those who would like the facts, here's a start:
