Phelps made it look too easy just then.

I really like Phelps and all, but people need to focus the attention to the anchor for the reason why they won this relay not Phelps.

That guy was amazing ... i mean the anchor of the frenchie was the best on their team as well.

 

Lezak hit that vtec!

 

Just to put things in perspective.. Lezak swam the last 100m in 46.06 -- the fastest 100m freestyle swim in history. The 100m freestyle WR is 47.24, set by Eamon Sullivan of australia on the first leg of that same race. He certainly did hit the vtec, yo. Splits don't count towards records though.

Phelps swam the first 100m in 47.51, which is .01s slower than the previous WR held by our good friend Alain "The Crusher" Bernard.

 

Yeah, splits don't count because the person knows exactly when they can jump off giving them a big advantage over the opening leg.

 

Phelps's first leg broke Lezak's American record for the 100m. His time of 47.51 is the third fastest 100m free swim EVER. He put the U.S. in second place after the first leg, and it took a WR swim to beat him. To say he wasn't a crucial part of the victory is asinine.

 

so um.. I guess thats why Phelps is the best he finds a way to win even when he is dead in the water..

 

That was so close, I know the clock says Phelps is faster, but even with the instant replay I can't tell the difference.

It was seriously like divine intervention.

 

Is anyone else turned on when watching the female swimmers? I know a lot of them are not pretty and all, but their strong bodies are so banging.
