Annoyed Vermont man pays parking ticket with volley of checks
By Associated Press, 05/10/01
Saint Johnsbury, Vt. - A Hardwick man has come up with a novel way to pay a parking ticket he got in Saint Johnsbury.
Ed Gravel wrote dozens of checks to pay his $2 ticket, some of them for as little as a penny.
He says he did it out of annoyance that he got a ticket at a malfunctioning meter.
Saint Johnsbury Police Chief Bruce Pratt thought the stunt was so funny, he paid the fine himself, took the checks, framed them and hung them near the squad room.

I always thought that paying in rolls of pennies, broken open, was a funny way to pay a ticket too...
