If he is "not" really your friend, I say go for it. just becasue you see him at Church or whatever does not make him your friend. If he's someone that you have saved on your cell phone and talk to atleast once a month, I'd consider that a friend. you have to decide if his friendship is worth throwing away..

just me, but I will not date an ex of a "friend".
