The Palm OS is good for my hard-core down-to-business PDA needs. It probably lacks power when it comes to playing movies or MP3's, typical screen resolution is not good for image editing, and it won't juggle two apps smoothly at the same time (at least through version 4.x). But program files are small, battery life is high, and cheaper processors work (like Moto Dragonballs). I tried an early Windows CE device (Toshiba?) and vomited it back to the store in a hurry. The OS may have improved but now I just figure Bill Gates owns enough of my soul.

Oh, and the amount and quality of Palm OS freeware (or cheap-ware) is stunning.

Microsoft if you're on a Windows PC
Palm if you are on a Mac

dude, looks like you haven't done enough research. the latest microsoft pda os is called pocket PC 2003. imo, pocket PC is a lot more versatile than the palm os. yes, the down side is poor battery life, but price is no longer a disadvantage for pocket PC pdas. in fact, HP sells an entry pocket PC for $199 retail, while you can get one with the latest 400Mhz cpu for as little as $299. personally, given that a pocket PC is really not that much more expensive than a moderate level palm these days, i think a pocket PC would be the wiser purchase. in terms of simplicity of use, if you can manipulate the [start] button and its associated menus and windows in windows XP, you will have no problem using the pocket PC os.
