Actually what I find encouraging is that this thread is being f****d up by the moderators!

I will edit those last comments out. As to me being a "Moderator"...well, I get to police a small section of the board that is home to the HouStooks...

I really do not mean to be political or bash Clinton. I received this in an e-mail and was in need of additional information, which has been added thanks to Nova.

I am frustrated by the events of September 11th and want to learn more about events leading up to it. I have done some research on the web but nothing compares to independent analysis and points of view offered by members of this board. Knowing the board like I do, I figured I'd get some additional and contrary information...which has happened. That is all...

I can empathize with Mark's desire to know more about what led up to September 11. Unfortunately, I get rather defensive any time someone suggests that the failure of a single person or group led to the tragedy. I find that type of over-simplification dangerous because it can lead to our complacency (we fixed that one problem, so it won't happen again right?).

I would be happy to know anyone else's source of information on the events that led to September 11. I can only offer the following:

I thought that the PBS series Frontline did two incredible pieces on Bin Laden and our war on terrorism previous to 9/11. Unfortunately they have already aired, but check your local PBS affiliates as they will most likely re-run these episodes a few times.
