You can group operations with parens (). this and (that or other) finds all posts matching that and that and this and other and this and that and other.
That was taken from the search instructions on these forums. As I read through them this one just made no sense to me lol. That has to be the most confusing explanation ever.

I knew what they were getting at, but writing it like you did just makes it much more clearer. I think someone just stayed up way too long when working on that section of the site.
