Default Pac Bell Sucks

Pac Bell really sucks as an internet provider. At a certain time of the day (It varies.) -- like now-- it gets hung up on everything and just spits out jibberish. I have DSL and it doesn't seem to help. Does anyone else have that experience?

Same thing here when I am at home. I have DSL and apparently a CO is nearby so when it is good I get 1 meg but it is rare. I also have cable-modem from Time Warner this is more stable and reliable and average speed is 1 meg as well but it does not go down as much. It goes up to 2 megs during off peak hours. Firewalls and wireless hubs from various vendors who want me to try out there products as well.

PACBELL is the worst!!! We use their service at my office and at home and we are constantly going down. It seems like at home it is the worst at the top of the hour i.e. 7:00PM, 8:00PM etc...

Unfortunately I am tied to a contract however, I am trying to get them to credit me for this and that due to my free time.

I have Pac Bell DSL, have for 2 of the last 3 years and while I've had an outage here or there overall I've been very pleased. The one thing I'm wondering is if you all have installed their s/w? I've never installed any s/w an ISP gave me for connecting. It's totally unnecesssary since Windows has everything you need built in. I wonder sometimes if the s/w ISP's provide don't cause some of the problems people have with Internet access.

I have PacBell at home, and will say it sucks. I haven't installed the software, so I know it is part of there system not mine. Get locked up once or twice a night.

i have pacbell and love it. HOWEVER I use a third-party (not enternet, not windows default) PPPoE driver. before it had problems, now it is near flawless.
