Pac Bell Sucks
i feel like a lucky one.. so many people have complained..waiting...poor connections..and so forth.. but me..i love it.. i got it 15 days after i ordered (first to order in my area) and i average with 6 computers networked to the router of about 1MB/s... never had problems and i've had it for 8 months now..

One of my business partners has Pacbell and they SUCK big time. When he sends me e-mail, I don't get it for half an hour. Their mail server is soooo slow. I think they just signed up too many people and haven't scaled their operations properly.
Try dealing with them on layer 1 issues. When my OC48 is getting a loss of signal from their box, I don't want to wait an hour for them to decide to send out a tech. Escalation? It's like pulling teeth with a pair of toothpicks trying to get a shift manager on the phone to get someone's ass out there to look at their damn box.

I've been pretty lucky with PacBell DSL for the past year and half or so. Granted I've had the occasional outtage, but it's nice that dialup service is provided for free. Stability wise,
I haven't had much problems, with peak bandwidth of around 1.2mbps, although one
reason for the stability might be static IP without PPPoE.
