Paris: Where to stay?
I'm headed to Paris with the wife for a casual but romantic 5 days in Paris. I know there are good places to stay and bad. Can any seasoned travellers out there offer recommendations for us in the

Paris would say anywhere but prison.
When are you going? There are some nice places that get quite affordable off peak.

PS: This has to make up for spending 4 days at the Nurburgring immediately following so I'm desperate for plenty of brownie points.

You could also try asking Mingster. I think he may be in Paris right now.
I had good luck just taking pot luck at the train station. Unfortunately, I can't remember for the life of me where I stayed. It was in the Latin Quarter, that's all I remember.
Oh, and for 100-150/night, you're not going to get too ritzy.

I stayed at the Orion in the 4th arrondissement at the Square of the Innocents. It is very close to Notre Dame and a few blocks from the Louve. It faces a large square with huge fountain. Just outside of the square is the Pompidou. There is a major subway station in the square, so there are always plenty of people to watch.
It's a nice central location that is easy to find if you get lost. Everybody can point you to Notre Dame and from there it is a few blocks.

There's a nice, classic hotel across the river from the Louvre. Tall ceilings, tall windows, feels like you're in a Humphrey Bogart film. Nothing especially fancy, but talk about great location!
Dunno how much it costs per night as I didn't have to pay-- probably in your range though... except for the fact that the $ has depreciated so much.
Enjoy paying $15 for your 6" bread-n-cheese baguettes.

100 to 150 Euros isn't going to buy much in Paris, but that having been said...
I've stayed at the Hotel du Cadran Tour Eiffel and Hotel de Londres Eiffel. Both are very, very close to the Eiffel Tower and allow you to walk to all of the tourist stuff along the river easily.
Between the two I'd recommend the Hotel de Londres Eiffel as the rooms are a bit nicer (but also smaller). Rates run between $150-$200 USD but summer is the peak tourist season so they might be higher depending when you go.
