Pay/benefits vs satisfaction
anyways to the OP i would def. pick option 2 depending on How menial the job is. If its something you can still be happy doing (but not your dream job) than go for it. You'll thank me later when 1/4 of ur kids college is paid for and you have full benefits.

with that much overtime his dream job becomes hell b.c no matter what you do those hours are now not being spent doing things outside of work (spending time with your family; etc). Also Full Benefits for your whole family IS HUGE. Tell me how "happy" you would be if your at your dream job and your kid gets sick or your wife gets into a car accident and you have $20k medical bills. And if you want to buy your own health insurance its still pretty damn expensive. When i wanted to get my own health insurance it was almost $1500/month.
and a 1/4 of college is HUGE. that can range from anywhere between $5k-$50k. If thats nothing for you guys than good job.

@ joey I don't agree that money=happiness, but I will admit having less money than you need can cause a lot of problems and make you pretty unhappy. Either way, the money doesn't seem to be that much of a difference in this case.

5-50k vs and extra 30k per year? Lastly if it's a dream job because it's something you enjoy doing, then would it really matter how much over time you worked? If it is your dream job for other reasons like status, pay (obviously not the case), or any other reason, I would have to agree with you.

see what im trying to say that even if it is your dream job if your working 70-80 hrs with OT than your not going to be that happy. you'd be happier than if you were working the same hours in job #2 but still not happy. I'd pick job #2 if that meant i made more $ and got to spend more time with my family. so that extra $30k comes with the risk of losing that happiness that your "dream job" gives you.
100K with 25 hrs of OT a week with option #1.
On a side note, I did have a business before (3 times my current pay) and working 80-100 hours a week. Needless to say, I was extremely unhappy. I sold it and now, I just wanted some advice from an unbiased point of view.

ALWAYS go for the pay, this way you can do the things you love on your days off
