Default Pay vs. Happiness

So I was thinking about my career and was wondering what you guys would do:

1) Stay at current career and make b/w 120-170K working 70-80 hours a week. I am 80% satisfied with what I am doing but obviously have no real life outside of work (no kids or wife).

or

2) Move to another job making b/w 60-70K a year working 40 hours a week. But I would be 100% satisfied with the work. This career is more prestigous and wont burn me out after 20+ years.

Opinions? Anyone else go through what I am going through?

all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy

(but you would have a kickass retirement fund )

I'd say if you are feeling burnt out, it's not bad idea to check out other career choices. you only live once, and you can't take it with you.

I'm in a similar predicament. I prefer work now, buy toys, save money, build up nest egg. Then later slow down.

work less. if there's a hobby you enjoy, you might be able to turn it into a business and work even less and get paid even more.

The world doesn't revolve around money and as long as you can live comfortably I would always settle for happiness over more money. More money may buy you more things but if you have no-one to share them with, what is the point.

Some people live to work whilst others work to live, try to find the middle ground.
