As the Son of a Claims Adjuster, the answers to this is very simple:

Most women do not report their accidents, therefor they receive lower rates on a whole.

It's the same reason old people have lower rates then teenagers.

You sure about that? I'd like to see some numbers to support this (and not just because you are the son of a claims adjuster)

male insurance rates can be higher for several reasons

males age 16-25 are far and away the most reckless drivers of any group
women drive less miles, therefore have fewer accidents

after you turn 25, the gap between male/female insurance rates closes dramatically. i'm 29, and i'd challenge anyone male or female to find rates like mine

so...yeah, not only do most women's driving habits annoy me, i'm also a better driver than they are. sorry if that hurts your feelings.

It's a fact that men have better spacial awareness.. this comes in to play big time on the road.

Maybe we can get girls to take off their overly large white framed sunglasses, remove the lei from their rear view mirrior, and quit talking to their boo on their cel phone while they're leaned back so far that their face is even with the dashboard.

I can only dream.
Haha, I completely agree. I love my fiancee, but she is a terrible driver. She is one of the nervous ones who stops at a stop sign, begins to go, then jams on the brakes again, starts, and so on. Why can't women figure out how to use the brake pedal smoothly? Slow down ahead of time, not in the last 15 feet or so. And for God sakes, ease off the brake at the end, don't just smash it down and then dump it. Bleh!

If the accidents aren't being reported, then how does the insurance company/claims adjuster know?

Doesn't hurt my feelings, but I wonder what makes you think you're a better driver than every woman out there? In fact, I'd venture to say there are probably women on this board who drive better than you.
Sorry if that hurts your feelings.

this thread only goes to show how moronic many of you guys are. if women are such bad drivers (and i agree that it SEEMS to be that way), why are insurance rates so much higher for men than women...

most of you end up sounding like control freaks who are full of themselves and their inflated abilities.
Moronic? I'd have to disagree. I can't tell you how many times I've been in a car with a female only to end up fearing for my life. The trend I've found is that they're oblivious to things that are obvious to me. Red lights, stop signs, any intersection where a car is turning and you can bet I'm going to be holding my breath.

Inflated abilities? Nah. My abilities are quite on par with most men on this forum. I've avoided at least a dozen wrecks where I should have been hit. If it weren't for my vigilance I certainly would have had cars plow into me left and right over the past seven years. The only wreck I've ever been in...you guessed it, a woman was driving, and we all should have died.

I prefer driving women around for their safety, and my own.

can you not read, or are you just playing devil's advocate? i said most. do you see a lot of women excelling in the racing world? i don't. i'm not calling myself a race car driver, or anything of that nature. hell, you could very possibly be a better driver than i am. i'm talking about the experiences i've had as a passenger in a car driven by a female, and experiences where someone doing something stupid has almost caused an accident near me.

do you take offense that men are better athletes than women? i hope not. to me, it's the same thing.

can't wait to see the reactions THIS brings....

I'm completely illiterate. Playing devil's advocate 'round these parts is usually wasted effort IMO...

Thank you for sharing your experiences and opinions about this.
