Go WAVES!!!

Both my fiance' and I are P-dine Alumn. I graduated with a BS in Business Admin. in 1995 and my better half did the same but in 1997. We both loved our time in the 'bu and loved our undergrad experiences.

Thanks for sharing this Richard.

That's pretty good for a school named after some kind of pepper!
Now, what does pepper have anything to do with waves?

hmm, i believe the founder of the school had a last name "Pepperdine"

at since it's located at Malibu, CA, it's right by the ocean and hence the "Waves".

Pepperdine University is named after it's founder, George Pepperdine.

Mr. Pepperdine founded Pepperdine College (before it was a University) in Los Angeles, CA. The first class was tiny (like 12 students) but over time, the school grew and grew.

The undergraduate school moved to it's Malibu campus in the late 70's or early 80's and it is now arguably the most beautiful campus in the world.

Despite the fact that the University is so small, the undergrad programs and graduate programs have made tremendous strides in the last two decades. I passed up the chance to go to large, more "prestigous" schools (UCLA for one) when it came time for college even though P-dine was going to cost me a lot more $. I have never regretted that decision. Pepperdine prides itself on providing a small classroom (I only had two classes with more than 20 students), active professors (I didn't have any TA's, all my teacher were active in their fields and enthusiastic about their jobs), and a large percentage of the student body that travels abroad. Pepperdine has some fantastic study abroad programs and more than 50% of the undergrads use this excellent resource. I lived with a Japanese host family and studied at a Japanese university for 6 months. Most others take the more traditional routes of London, Heidelberg, or Florence. My wife to be spent a year in London.

IMO, P-dine isn't for everyone. It's a pretty conservative, private, Christian school. Some aspects of that were a little heavy handed for me but it was largely offset by an emphasis on ethics, morals, and social responsibility. The school isn't cheap either, but then what in life worth doing is?

I highly recommend the undergrad program and have quite a few friends with good experiences in both the Executive MBA program, "regular" MBA program, and the law school.

Ah, Pepperdine..
One of the most beautiful girls in my high school went there..man I had a major crush on her.
She later became a well-known casting director in Hollywood and, rumor had it, came out of the closet as a lesbian.
All of which means absolutely nothing to anyone else on this board!
Just re-living a few memories.
