pic of the day
As a Marine, I am extreamly offended. You have no damn clue what that monument means to Marines, or any service member for that matter. I dont care what the photo you posted is supposed to represent. It's disrespectful to all the men and women who gave their lives in past, present, and future conflicts.
So you can take your "juxtaposition" and shove it up your ignorant ass.

Art is subjective and you take away from it what you bring to it. To you, you see nothing more than blantant disrespect for a moment in time. What you dont see is that, (if you give it some thought), the artist may have more feeling toward that image than you do and chose that famous pose to excoriate the McDonalds Brand.
You dont know what the artist meant by this piece of art...neither do I
I do know it can mean many things to many people...that is the beauty of art (of any kind). Its not vular or profain. you may not like it, but like I said...you take from art what you bring to it

I interpret it to be a social commentary on the prevalence of corporate symbols and culture in the post-greatest-generation era, an indictment of society's drift from the ideals and values of the generation that planted that flag. If anything, it's to honor those men and women, and to show us how far we have deviated.
