Default Plastic BB Guns

Can anyone tell me about those clear plastic BB guns I have seen in walmart. They use a larger size BB and are brightly colored. My girlfriends son is 14 and wants one, I originaly said no because he may try to shoot people, but after seeing one in the store I want to shoot people too.

I figure if we wear some goggles we can go out in a field and go at it. The salesman said they were fun but I want to know if any of you guys have seen or used these things.

How powerful are they
How long do the battery/life last
Are they sturdy

If you are going to shoot at each other buy paintball guns. THe plastic bb's are just the right size to go into the wrong places and hurt you. They are not designed to shoot at people, but rather at targets.

Yes, or even under safety goggles. The velocity is variable depending on the gun, but the size of the beebee makes it potentially more dangerout than say a paintball. I have one that I use to shoot empty coke cans. It isn't too high velocity, but mine is just spring loaded, I don't know about battery ones.

Aren't there people who "play" Airsoft? I don't get it myself. Paintball is where it is at if you want to tag each other and have something to show for it.

i actually bought one of those guns. those things are pretty serious...they will leave bb-shaped dents in drywall and put holes in plastic blinds (we had some crappy ones in college). it stings a little if you get hit by one...so not too bad...but if it gets you in the eye...that might not be so good.

no batteries on mine, just pump and shoot. if there's wind they wont shoot straight, but inside they're straight compared to weak paintball guns (though i've never shot a high-end one).

You may be right. I am just talking about my personal experience with those guns. The bb's are small enough to be dangerous IMO.

no i agree...if i had a 14 yr old kid, i definitely wouldn't buy him one of these. not only would i not want him shooting other people, but i wouldn't want all my stuff in the house shot to pieces.

Ouch! That's a new one. Usually they lose eyes by looking down the barrel without wearing goggles. Or the compressed air/CO2 tank valve flies off because it was poorly attached.
