That is a rip. Why would you pay $599 for something that would cost you around $550 otherwise?

$299 for playstation
$100 for two (crappy) games
$ 35 for the over-priced memory card
$100 gift certificate

$534 - total expenditure.

Guess it just goes to show you that you don't have to go on EBay to get ripped off anymore (-:

FWIW: got my PS2 the day it was released, and have had few good things to say about it so far. Still waiting on that "must have" game, though ESPN Snowboarding has me hooked.

Too bad EA screwed up F1 2001!!!

I agree on the games, not many decent choices. But I am addicted to SSX (Snowboard Supercross). Haven't tried the ESPN version yet.

 

The games are ok. They aren't crappy.
I wouldn't mind them.
That's 300 bucks for the console and 70 bucks for the games..(or was it 60 bucks...those are already discounted).
The memory card I already have 2 of those 8 MB cards for 11 bucks each.
So I would be paying 600 bucks for items worth less than 400 bucks to me. But of course, it maybe a good deal for you if you are always paying the highest possible retail for everything.
As you said, 20 bucks to get it before xmas sounds good.

Doing that once is enough for my life time.........yup, it was the S2000.

 

BTW, the bidding on ebay is down to low 400s.
It should fall below 400 in the next few days.
I'd rather pay extra for nothing than paying a lot more for "forced add-ons".
If you want another PS2, maybe you can check ebay.

Thank you for notifying us. I'm sure you were excited to tell us about it. We are not speaking up against you (at least I am not), just the practice of amazon.com and samgoody.com for forcing useless packages for additional profit. (eb forces $100 additional warranty on you)

No big deal, just thought somebody might have a kid who was still looking for one. Anyway where are you getting the games so cheap? I paid $50 for SSX, Madden, Ridge Racer V, and Tekken. If you know a place with better prices please share. Unfortunately it looks like I will be house bound for awhile. I somehow contracted chicken pox for the first time (just found out today)at the age of 28 and had plans to go skiing but that's out now. What a way to spend the Holidays.
