Default Playstation 2 for only 719 dollars! What a bargain!

Man, I went to look at PS2's today at Best Buy. I just wanted to see one in person and I must say, the graphics are absolutely stunning! The amount of detail is truly amazing. Well, Best Buy sells them for 299 dollars. I thought that was fair, but I need to get the steering wheel setup, which was a reasonable 40 dollars. Then the games, er, the ONLY game, GT2, another 40 some odd dollars. All in all, not too bad.

Being a web-based kind of guy, I thought I would check around to get prices on the Internet. Well, I wasn't able to find it for any less than what BB sells it for, but I did find it for a shocking 719 dollars at one place! Here's the link in case any of you want to get in on this deal!

What a bunch of yahoos!

So, all you PS2 junkies, where did you get yours? What should I expect to pay and I'm sure you are elated with the system, but what are your thoughts about it? It's awesome, isn't it?

Would love to have your input...

Yes, it is an awesome system. Although there aren't many good games (IMO) out that I would buy. GT3 (not GT2), is well worth buying. And I mentioned some other games that I want to buy in another post... but they were Legacy of Kain 2, and Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.

I got my PS2 at Software Etc. I reserved it about a month before it came out and paid $300 for it. Then I put a reservation on GT3 and paid $54 or so dollars for it. Plus, when I picked up GT3, I picked up a memory card for about $35. I didnt pick up another controller because I can use the PS1 controller for now. Its pretty pricey, but I'd say it was worth it

Cool, thanks...!

And I meant GT3, typo...

There is one vote for me taking the plunge. This will be great in the middle of the winter when the S2000 jones is in full bloom.

I got mine at best buy as well. I bet you got the V3 wheel right? I had that and couldn't stand it, cuz I kept hitting the walls in TXRZ. I returned it. Blau got the logitech and says it's pretty good. Some guys on this board talked about a PS2 GT2 combo for like $330.

Get the PS2/GT2 combo. It's about $20 cheaper than buying the console and game separetly. Try EBWorld .

Paid $450 for PS2, GT3, mem card, and extra controller (with tax). Definitly worth it (considering that its also a PS1 and a DVD player). The DVD playback quality is nothing to be happy about, but its not so bad either. On par with your average bargin priced DVD players.

The best deal is the $330 eb combo I think but I didnt know about that when I got mine. Besides toysrus was closer.

Anyone know what stores are charging for the official wheel? I think I remember hearing around $100 but I hope im wrong.

Well, I camped out in front of Target with a few of my friends, we were the first in line (total of 36 people in line cause Target had put a sign out that there wer only 36 avail). It rained, I froze. But most importantly, I had fun! I didn't actually open the box until April cause my original intentiom was to sell it and make money (my intention along with everyother person that bought one). But I'm glad I did keep it cause now that GT3 is out, it's running non-stop! I got it for $325 with the stand.

You must get the Logitech wheel, it is simply awesome. Got mine at BestBuy for $99, but they also give you a rebate for a $30 gift card.....

the 329 is the price (or was) at warehouse music with the second controller. the ps2 only comes with one controller. also, tack on 34 bucks for an 8meg memory card (you'll need it, at least until the hard drive option comes available in the states - not a joke), but you can also get the PS2/GT3 combo which also runs 329 with only one controller.
