What is VOTA Racing????
Alright, I'll come clean here. This is the story of VOTA Racing. It's not much of a story at all, but more of a tongue in cheek thing that Nick (GTRPower) came up with a while back. Back in the day when I was being accused of all sorts of nefarious activities as it relates to sponsors and products that I was getting from them, Nick came up with the notion that I was the "shill" for a sponsor and that he was the "voice of the aftermarket." Well shortly thereafter, I started calling him VOTA because, well, it was just shorter!
What has happened since is that VOTA Racing, much like the Chicago 7 racing team that is sure to rear its ugly head soon, has become this loose association of people who support the concept of the fact that so many of our activities are sponsor-based and sponsor-driven. This is most certainly the case with s2ki.com and with all of our efforts with the S2000 Club of America. We DEPEND on sponsors to help achieve our goals and S2KDays, quite frankly, would not have been the huge success that it was without such deep vendor participation and involvement.
Yea, it's a tongue in cheek thing, but you know, at least from my perspective, it's a reality that sponsors drive many of our efforts and activities and supporting those who support us is absolutely essential.
So, what does being a member of VOTA Racing mean? By putting VOTA Racing in your signature, it shows that you support the companies who support all of our various activities. It's NOT limited to those who modify their cars, because even those who don't modify benefit from this very web site.
Moreover, VOTA Racing meetings are characterized by a bunch of us whackjobs (I love that word) getting together to talk about cars, racing, and hanging out having a good time with people...that's the essence of the whole gig. People. Of course, the requisite adult beverages are typically consumed at VOTA Racing meetings, that's an important part of it, as well...
It's just a goofy thing that I can blame on Nick, since he started it all. But it's serious in that supporting sponsors and vendors who support us is an important thing to have.
So, I encourage you to have your own VOTA Racing meetings. In Chicago, our meetings (for the Chicago 7) typically happen at The Player's Club, a restaurant all centered on racing and hot waitresses. And that is another focal point of VOTA Racing...hot babes...
It's just fun, glad to see such interest...it makes me do this ---->
See you at the next VOTA Racing meeting!
