what a dick. they never showed him tip the dealer. those people put up with the biggest assholes in poker for about $5 an hour, plus TIPS.
strange with most of these shows, it seems they edit out even any mention of tipping.

I tip a waitress if she goes out of her way to make sure my meal was enjoyable.
I tip the doorman if he's kind enough to help carry up my bags.
I don't tip some shmuck for just flipping over cards.

its expected that if you are losing that you would not tip the dealer but after a series of winning hands or after a windfall hand, it is expected that you show some love to the dealer by either tipping them outright or placing a dealers bet on the next hand (blackjack or other single round betting game)
If I won a 300K pot you better believe I will be tipping the dealer at least a 1000.00
saying you would not tip a dealer tells me you have not spent much real time in casinos playing dealer based games.
To each his/her own but your perspective is naive at best.
I have never been a whale or high roller coming into a casino, but, by simply playing well while at a table and tipping well, I have been noticed several times by floor bosses and have been comped numerous dinners and hotel rooms from simply treating the staff nicely.

tipping dealers is considered good casino play (just like tipping servers, it's not required by law but you look like a shmuck if you dont)

Sorry my friend, I think we've got very different perspectives of what and who is being naive. Naive is spending time and money in a place where the odds are tipped against you, and then tipping some of the very people (albeit the lowest on the totem-pole) who profit from it. Particularly those people who are doing NOTHING for you but their jobs. That's several orders of naive.
That said, I will tip the waitresses however who actually go grab me one of the free drinks. It's all about the extra effort.

ouch!!!
