This test gives different results from similar tests that I have taken. I normally come out at the extreme libertarian end, not near the middle. According to the results page, Tony Blair and I are nearly the same! (Oddly enough, I consider Blair an authoritarian Fascist...only a Fascist could support Jack Straw's policies.)
Also, it seemed that many of the questions weren't meant to be answered literally, but were stereotype questions or ones that are always associated with a particular viewpoint (what you do in your bedroom is your own business, abortion is wrong, etc.). A good Democrat would recognize 10 or 15 catchphrases from Democratic campaigns, and a good Republican would recognize 10 or 15 catchphrases from Republican campaigns.
