I, probably as much as anyone else here, am distressed by some of what I read. That said, I lean towards talking about everything rather than having taboos. Shunning and other forms of disapproval are better choices than banning, IMHO.

Perhaps another forum "Gladitorial Combat" might be a way to meet your need.

Holy shit did that thing take a turn.... sorry.... i was just pointing out that I tend to do the good thing (i push cars off the road, i jump dead batteries in the rain, i don't litter, etc....), but often times in the past I have been around folks who attempt to make me feel bad that I don't go to church....then those same folks do stuff that is "not the right things".

O well...... I read about 1/2 of that bigarse thread, and of course got lost (low attention.....mmmmmmm beer......)

Charlie - I may actually get to meet ya in October. RUN! ahaha

I voted for the second option, however, that was only because I didn't agree with the first option.

From the content of a number of the threads that have been locked etc. I don't think that there can be sensible debate on these topics. People have are such diametrically opposed positions.

There are other topics that would also be best left, those being nationalistic and gun control threads....

Then again, they do brighten my day up sometimes when I read through some of them.....

Politics has been a topic that's ALWAYS leads to a locked thread, so that's why that's disallowed (moderator sanity). If religion takes that turn as well, then I can see the same thing happening. If everyone keeps it light and respectful, I don't see the need to taboo any topic.

The only difference between politics and religion is who or what is being deified. Blind faith makes us do and say things that others may not like.
In either case it will inevitably offend people who disagree.

Look, why should anyone be offended about MY spiritual beliefs. They are mine not yours. I don't not force them on anyone. I just speak what I believe. Is it boring to some, sorry! This doesn't make it right or wrong. We discuss and share many such beliefs here. Some which I deem offensive to me personally. But I have the choice not to enter into the discussion. You have the same rights and freedoms as I have. I do exercise mine whenever possible. I don't speak of religion only of my deep spiritual feelings. I cling to no religion. I am a freeman. I don't care if you are an atheist, a Mormon, catholic, Lutheran, white, black or otherwise. YOU have the right to be anything you want. I choose to be who I am. Politics I will not discuss. I've been asked not to and I won't. Even if we were permitted, my input would only be speculation, as I'm not to enlighten on the subject.

Bottom line, talk about your spirituality and your faith, not religion. This is what makes you tick. I'm all ears! Politics, no way no how!

If it is permitted by the owner of the board then fine. If not than I will abide by the rules, if I wish to participate.
