I don't really agree with this because my mom's a devout Christian and I'm agnostic. Half my friends are Atheist and half my friends are devoted to their religion (Catholocism, Judaism, Christianity etc).

A lot of my friends are also majoring in Political Science and are really involved with the political scene. One of my friends is currently attending George Washington University and was actually thinking about joining the protest about the IMF and World Bank problem.

I myself can really careless about politics and these are all my best friends. We always talk about religion and politics and I think that is what keeps us together.

But please understand that these two things are only a couple out of a million things my friends and I have in common. My friends and I are pretty liberal people.

O well...... I read about 1/2 of that bigarse thread, and of course got lost (low attention.....mmmmmmm beer......)

Charlie - I may actually get to meet ya in October.

From the content of a number of the threads that have been locked etc. I don't think that there can be sensible debate on these topics.

I'm more than willing to participate in good intelligent discussion but unfortunately those with strong religous beliefs are impossible to have discussion with. Everything they believe is absolute. I have no problem with that; you're entitled to your beliefs. Just don't try to tell me you want to have a religious discussion when in fact what you really want to do is preach to me and try to convert me. I get enough of that on Saturday mornings

Why proscribe subjects?
After all one is not coerced into reading a particular thread - if it is boring, stupid, annoying - pass on to the next.
There are many interesting, entertaining, well informed discussions going on at a moment in time.
One of the strengths of the board.

Strike, In this world there are no absolutes. A wiseman listens and hears a fool speaks before he thinks. Understanding is the key to wisdom. If a very spiritual person does not listen with the intent to hear then he is a fool for he will never learn anything.

All I can say is some things are a delight to hear others are not so delightful. A wise proverb says: "You can even learn from a wicked man." It's what you learn and how you apply it.

What happened to Scot's thread about Christianity? I left after I made my last post and then it was gone the next time I checked in...

Was it moved? If so, why? What happened?! I thought it was an interesting discussion.

And I say anything goes...just keep it civil and reasonable. It's OT for crying out loud!

Personally, I think it should be an open forum for any and all of us to make fools of ourselves or have logical intelligent discussions. BUT i respect C-Three's ownership of the board and thus i will follow his request that we stay off the restricted subjects..
