quick question w/ the modifry dash mount... do you still get good satellite reception even though the navi is not directly aimed towards the front of the car... [compared to using the windshield mount?] coz i was actually thinkin' of getting the modifry dash mount as well... but i just want to make sure before i order it...

The reception is fine with the dash mount, I've never had any trouble with it even with the top up.
You don't need the tool but it sure made removing the bezel easy, and I wasn't worried about scratching the plastic like I would if I used a screwdriver. I guess any plastic tool that can be used to pry will work, but the toolkit is pretty cheap and I know I'll find other uses for those tools.

thanks for the help but wait... stockae... so did you decide on what to get yet??? or have you purchased something already?
i got the modifry bracket with nuvi ball and just the regular garmin nuvi 200W since i dont need bluetooth, music, voice with street names, fm transmitter, etc. it serves its purpose and im happy
thanks guys for the info
i think i am going to go with garmin nuvi 770 (going to buy, haven't bought it yet)
well, its for my wife. she wanted the GPS to speak the street name. but i also wanted the wide screen (more viewing area should be better, right) and european maps (maybe good for when we do travel), and i don't like the 600 series's flip up anttena.
the 770 got a lot of stuff that i don't really care for, like blue tooth, mp3 player, FM transmitter and some other features. but it seems like that's the best choice so far.
the 775T is even better, but much more expensive as well
