Sometimes we take things for granted ... we're very lucky to have so many S2000's cruising around ...

I'm very thankful for my S2000 ...

S2000 would be a similar price in Jamaica, W.I. since the tax due upon importing it would be about 80% of the value in U.S. (then add on shipping cost).

That's sad, if I remember correctly I believe my company does something special for the South American market. I think we send the parts to South America and our bikes are assembled there and it saves a little on taxes. Of course, I doubt you see a whole lot of Harley's on the road too huh?

I spent a little time down there a few years back. Spotted these strange Fords which looked vaguely familiar - yes, they were 1964 Ford Falcons which Ford Argentina manufactured right up to 1990.

Turns out they bought the Ford Australia dies and tools back in 1965 and shipped them lock, stock and barrel to Buenos Aires. All they did was square up the front and rear ends to freshen them up a little and they got a 25 year model run out of them!

It kinda gives you an idea of just how poor a country it is that older models were all the locals could afford to buy.

While you're there, you ought to take a look at the Buenos Aires phone book. You'll find quite a German name community in there. It's funny how many Germans immigrated to Argentina shortly after the end of WWII. Martin Boorman, Joseph Mengele, etal.

The Falcons have a very dark history out there, they were used by the police during the dictatorship to go and arrest dissidents (they used unmarked versions), so Argentinians don't really like them.
When I was in Buenos Aires last year I didn't see many expensive cars either, and that was BEFORE the big recession they have now... interesting to see how you can tell the economic situation of a country by the cars they have.

But what they don't lack of is beautiful girls - never seen anything like that - spent the last 3 days of my trip in my hotel room

Well it's a city actually - capital of Argentina.

It's a beautiful place - huge wide boulevards and historic buildings. Got the shock of my life when I arived at night time riding my motorcycle into town. One of the main roads (I forget its name - could be Avenida de Liberatore or similar) was 13 lanes wide (yes 13!!!) in one direction. Not only that there were cars whizzing from lane 1 to lane 13, and every other combination in between, whilst I was busy trying to find directions - a fascinating experience.
