Cool site... the 70's were an interesting time too.
Techno wars...
Take for example... the Brabham BT46B-Alfa Romeo. The engineers mounted a fan on the underside of the car and attached a skirt from the lower part of the body to the road. It worked like the opposite of a hovercraft and sucked the car down on the road.
I recall Nicki Lauda won with this car (yep just looked it up). It was banned immediately after one race.
This was also the beginning of LOTS of wings in designs
