propeller "thingies" in tramway at DIA
does anyone know what the purpose the propellers that resemble a childs wind toy serve in the tramway tunnels at denver international? we just returned from a ski trip and noticed hundreds of them lining the tunnel.
they are for fun because the subway pushes a coloum of air 100 feet in front of you and starts spinning the propellors. and the siciles are there for fun if you saw them.
where did ya go skiing. i was out there the 23-28 of feb. great snow every day.

They represent just one of the thousands of ways our tax dollars were wasted. The is also a "video art" projection, and some other crap. Combine that with the granite and marble floors (cracking), tent-like roofs (will need to be replaced soon), poor parking system, etc....
I guess the bottom line for the art in the tunnels - maybe if you see it you won't notice that the train is so full the guy next to you is grinding on your knee...!
Hope you had fun skiing - I'm off to Winter Par/Mary Jane right now.

my dad's an architect, and he told me that it's for pollution purposes. if you have a very long tunnel, and cars are stuck inside those tunnels for hours during traffic, people are sitting inside their cars breathing in those car fumes. i think there was an incident a very long time ago in one of ny's long tunnels, and people died or something. but yeah...during traffic, those fans are turned on to blow out the air for your safety.if that's what you're talking about, then okay. if you're talking about those fans in the subway tunnels then...i dunno then.
