Protestors and Demonstrators
I'm getting really sick of hearing the press refer to those terrorists in Genoa as demonstrators and protestors!
I actually feel sorry for the segment of that crowd that only wanted to hold up signs and shout objections to the G8 meeting - those are the only demonstrators.
The ones who we see in the news coverage throwing deadly objects, smashing windows, and setting fires have no right to expect anything less than forceful resistance - I can't believe they are now going to consider manslaughter charges against the cop who shot at them. Who else is going to be willing to stand up to them?

I strongly disagree.
This thread is going to be locked in a matter of seconds for political content, but before it happens I'd like to point the fact that what's happening now is VERY important : this anti-globalization movement is a major phenomenon, it's the only recent political subject that has raised strong interest amongst young (and non-young) people all over the world.
And the violence of the protests shows how important this problem might be if not discussed democratically.
But then again I might not be too shocked because in Europe violent demonstrations are frequent and accepted as normal signs of social problems.

Both sides are partly right. However alot of people just show up to break things and know little or nothing of the reasons they are there in the first place...
Just like riots after winning a chamionship or ...
Some people just don't have better things to do.
