I know some of you have PS2's so I'm curious if anyone else has picked up Driving Emotion Type S? I've been searching for a while and finally picked it up a couple of days ago. I was anxiously awaiting the victory which would unlock the S2000. Boy was I dissappointed. First off they had the black listed as "Berliner Black" which was very careless on Squaresoft's part. Then the car sucked. It handled fairly well but I couldn't keep up with the other cars. I was getting killed by Integra Type R's and BMW 328 Ci's. I was offended by the lack of performance they gave the S.

I found the game completely unplayable... what a piece of junk!

Be patient y'all and wait for the king of driving games, Gran Turismo 3. (http://ps2.ign.com/previews/13846.html)

(disclaimer: yes Ferrari 355 and LeMans are great but that's now on the defunt Dreamcast )

agree with loki, it's horrible not worth the money. It received bad reviews as well. I borrowed it from a friend and returned it the same day.

It's complete crap. I *hate* that game. I am skeptical, but hopeful about GT3. I just don't see how you can have a playable driving game on a platform that doesn't have analog triggers for gas/brake.

There is some very good news for PS2 owners -- the Dreamcast game Test Drive: Le Mans is being ported to PS2 as "Le Mans 24 Hours" or something like that. This is the greatest driving game I have ever played. The sense of speed is dead on, the physics are forgiving by realistic. The cars throw up roostertails and leave vapor trails. The brake rotors glow around turns. The sense of speed is amazing. It's just a phenomenal game. I have both PS2 and DC, and I will have this game for both. That will be the ultimate showdown of these two game systems.

I still don't see how you can control a driving game with binary acceleration/brake buttons.

Sunchild ( or others),
Have you tried MSR (Metropolis Street Racer) for DC. I like it but haven't tried Test Drive:Le Mans yet. I agree that Emotion Type S does not have the best controls but I think part of that is the poor design of the PS controller compared to the DC controller. The handling characteristics of the cars are pretty real. It's definitely a sim.

Sunchild,

I use the left analog stick for gas and brakes, and the right stick for steering, for GT2. Yes, that means I can't heel and toe, but I'll live!

Impatiently waiting for GT3...

Ted
