Default Pulled a muscle...advice needed DOCTORS!!!!

I think I pulled a muscle lifting a heavy barbell yesterday. It hurts like hell and I'm wondering if I might've pulled a vein instead. I'm experiencing a sharp pain in my left wrist, I can barely hold a textbook up. I went out and bought Myoflex but that stuff doesn't even work! Doctors please advise!

Hmm, instead of seeking advice over the internet, go see a doctor

Evo has good advice.
I hope you are kidding about pulling a vein, if not, it didnt' happen. You probably pulled/strained a muscle like you said. Keep it elevated, wrapped, immobilized and on ice and take ibuprofen or naproxen for pain and if it's no better by monday considering seeing a doctor.

If you have a big fluid collection under the skin, go to the emergency room now. If you loose feeling in your fingers go to the ER now.

if you ed up a vein, you'd see bruising. the coloration in bruises is from broken blood vessels...it's your blood floating around under the skin. If you don't see bruising then your veins are ok.

pretty much like raj said

No, I don't see any bruises so I guess I didn't pull a vein afterall. I didn't think this was serious enough to get me to the doctor so I didn't go. Plus my doctor will call me a wimp, so I'll save myself the embarrassment.

I would call it a lazy mistake. Basically, I wanted to raise the bar on my bench because I'm doing incline benching so I needed more height. I had about 100lbs on there. I figured that I can throw 100lbs up and down like nothing, I can lift it off easily. So instead of taking off all the weight and lifting the bar off the slow way. I thought no problem! I can pull it right off the rack and adjust the height. I could lift it with a big pull, I didn't know I pulled something until I placed it onto the rack. I think the problem was because my wrist was bent in an acute angle. I had to raise the bar back to chest height. Another thing was I didn't have any room to move around so I just threw it up there. hehehe If only I had a spotter.... I'm not crying over the pain but I'm going to Wis. Dells next month so I gotta look good for the ladies. This is going to set me back a week before I can workout. This sucks! Man I paid $8 for the stupid "Myoflex" and it doesn't numb the pain at all. WTF!

I messed up my wrist last month in a karting accident, it hurt like no other! Swollen, could barely drive my car for a week, and a very limited range of movement. Make sure yo uget a good brace on it to immobilize it, and definatly keep iceing it and hit up some ibuprofen. Make sure you go see a docter (perferably a good orthopaedic) There is also a possibility you tore a ligiment. That's what the docter though mine was first since the xrays showed no broken bones or fractures but a few bones were out of their correct alignment. So they put 6 shots in my wrist (there are 3 chambers in your wrist, 1 shot to numb the chamber and 1 shot with dye for xrays) and when they took xrays to see where the fluid was moving and if it leaked into the wrong areas they knew there was a tear. The found nothing wrong and it's been healing up slowly but I still can't move my wrist very far upwards (it's slowly coming back though) and I still have a very slight accute pain I've still been going to the doc on a regular basis and the xrays show the bone alignment to be getting pretty close to normal now and getting better as time passes. I have my last follow up in a month so we'll see how that goes.

I thought I pulled a brain tendon once. Turned out to be one helluva hangover!

You don't pull blood vessels. You burst them.
Go see your doctor. Not knowing what exactly your situation is, even if we were doctors, we should NOT be giving you this kind of advice over the internet. It's not like you're asking what to do about a flat tire.
