Marriage is great. If you marry and are only half as happy as me (after 27 years), you'll be just fine.

I'm not married, but I think that for some couples things change because people have expectations about what the relationship will be like after they're married. Some expectations people are aware of before they're married and some they're not.

Before my husband and I got married, we had to meet w/ our minister & go through some questions and discussion. One of the questions on the paper was "what do you expect to change when you get married?". I told the minister that if I thought a change was going to happen, I'd want it to happen right at that point in time. (ie: If I thought that getting married would turn my husband into a chef for every meal, why would I not want that to happen now?!).

By the way, we lived together for a year before we got married and that was the best way to really know each other. I mean, you can only hide so many things for so long if you live with someone. (Of course, there are always exception to this rule.....but you know what I mean!)

The only thing that changed for me was that my wife liked to eat dinner every night, which is something I'd never done except on weekends. All I need in the evening is a bowl of cereal or a power bar.
So we went out to eat almost every night, and I put 20lbs on in a year

Apart from that, everything was great.
