Default Question about using iTune gift card to purchase app as a gift to another account?

I don't even know if this is possible. But let's say if I have a $50 iTune gift card, and I would like to buy a $5 app on the app store for an iTune account other than mine as gift, can that be done?

I think this is how it works. You can credit the $50 gift card to your iTunes account. From your account you can purchase a $5 app and send it as a gift.

I tried, but in fact its not possible.

I put the $50 gift card in my iTune, bought an app as gift. My iTune account was charged instead of the $50 credit. I contacted Apple support, and I was told the reason was because I sent the app as gift, and I can't use account credit for it.

The next day, I bought more Apple stock. Their policy suck but they are going to make so much money ... LOL

So you can't use your credits to buy a gift? Interesting. Thanks for sharing. That is nice to know.

At least that's what I was told. That's the weirdest policy. Doesn't make sense to me at all except that Apple will get more of your money.
