Question For Dr.'s In The House
Well, my agony started about 8 years ago when I first dislocated my right shoulder roller blading. It was probably one of the most painful experiences in my life. I still remember the CRACK sound my shoulder made. Anyhow, since then, my should dislocates any time I move my arm quickly in a lateral motion over my head. Basically, I dislocate my shoulder about once every 3 months while playing basketball, volleyball.....etc. It hurts like hell so I finally learned to just put it back in place myself.
I'm wondering if I should get the surgery everyone talks about that secures the shoulder in place since I've heard that working the area out has no affect. I figure I bite the bullet now before more serious problems result.
tks

I had mine orthoscopically repaired because of a similar problem. that was 10 years ago and I'm very happy i got it done. The recovery was painfull, but now days they have infusion pain pumps that help alot. If i had your problem now I'd still get it repaired. PT is supposed to help, but I don't know how much. I'd consult a good orthopedic surgeon.
