What does it mean when someone says: "You're just some git I met somewhere..."

What's a git?

While I'm sure this isn't it, interesting, nonetheless. http://www.open.org/~davidc/UFODrive.htm

A git is 'a silly or contemptable person'
Many people in England use it as a non offensive way to knock their friends.
It actually comes from the term 'old get'. An old get was a grumpy old man who nobody really liked.
My mates call me a 'git' all the time when Im kicking their arses at Counter Strike

Hope this helps.

It's funny how England has slang we don't ever hear.

What do you mean by "knock" and "arses"?

You guys should invest in an Oxford dictionary.

arse n. (vulg) buttock, rump
knock v. strike with audible sharp blow
git n. (sl. derog.) worthless person

The Brits use the same language we do; they just use different parts of it. The English language contains lots of words but I think the average vocab is only 75 of them.

To 'knock' somebody is to take the mickey out of them or if you are in a bad mood, to have a bit of a dig at them.
Your arse is your bottom (ass).

That's so funny. You're gonna have to setup translate for British English to American English soon. LOL
