MMC = Microsoft Management Console? which is built in win xp?

not to sound harsh, but you're an administrator? I wouldn't touch a thing and call a professional if you are questioning what mmc is.

20 machines total? Learn how to log stuff in the login script/DOS/KIX/whatever you know and use XP remote assistance.

Dameware works pretty good. You can install it on remote workstations if you are admin on the domain/ad. It lets you remote control as well as monitor machines. Very nice.

I would recommend PCAnywhere on 2000 or the built-in Netmeeting client on XP.

To monitor your web traffic and who is on which site for how long you really should do that at the network level with a proxy server or firewall. Trying to get 20 computers in two locations to constantly report their web traffic patterns would be a nightmare to setup.

Remote Desktop or VNC (Virtual Network Console) works for small office environments. Also as far as monitoring network traffic... you need to put your border router on a hub (assuming your office is switched) with another PC and run a program called LittleBrother. All of the above is suitable for a small office.

What are you using for your border router?
