Hey all,
Haven't been around for a while due to work, but I just had to vent about what happend to me last night. I went by the liquor store to pick up a few bottles of liquor and when I'm pulling in I notice a guy with his reverse lights on but he hasn't begun backing up yet so I figure I'm ok to go by him. As I'm about 1/2 way around his car he starts backing up and I give a few honks cause I had to slow down to let let another car park in front of me and I just wanted to make sure he saw me. Well, he doesn't stop or slow down, he just continues to back up into me, even while I'm now laying on the horn. I couldn't believe he just backed right up into me. Well, I get out of my car and am pretty pissed as I gave this clown ample warning that I was there and I had been sitting there for a few seconds before he even began backing out. So, we both get out of the car and I ask, didn't you hear my horn? He replys no, and starts trying to say that I "whipped" around him while he was backing out. I'm like, I sat behind you for a while and honked, how in the world are you going to try and say I "whipped' around you. He coninues to argue and I finally say, look let's just exchange insurance and let them figure it out, I'm not going to argue with you. Then he starts saying "In this country" and I stop him right there and said "Hey I was born in this country so you can quit with that racist bullshit". He then tells me he doesn't have his insurance or his ID and that we should just take care of the damage ourselves. At this point I'm just like great, this is how it's going to be huh, so I told him I was obviously not going to pay for the damage that HE cause to MY car and that I was going to go call the cops and I grabbed a pen and took his license plate. Suddenly, he had his insurance cards and decided it would be better to do that then to call the cops I then suggested we go inside to exchange information, mostly because I saw the kind of person I was dealing with and figured it'd be useful to have witnesses to the kind of person this guy was. So we go inside and he continues trying to make racial slurs at me and just being a jackass. Anyways, I got his information and talked with the manager at the liquor store for a while and got his info so that he could verify my story. I heard from his insurance this morning because I made a claim to his insurance company last night. It sounds like everything is going to work out *knock on wood*. Anyways, thanks for listening, just had to get it off my chest. Some people in this world are just so ignorant! </endrant> ahhh, much better! :-)

 

Good job on handling the situation......some people are just... in' a-holes!

When his first reply to you was about not having his insurance card or his ID, you should interrupted him and stated,

"In this country, when you step out your door, it's law by state and city ordinance, that you carry your ID on your persons, and law that you have a valid insurance card in your car!

This isn't the Redneck States of America."

Also, in the state of IL, people backing out (or even coming forward out) of parking spaces do NOT have the right of way. The people in the actual driving lanes have the right of way.

One more note in Illinois, not sure about Texas, about four years ago, an ordinance in Cook Co. was passed against racial slurs. If a report is made, attacking someone with racial obscenities can be considered a racially motivated hate-crime (basically treated as a hate-crime and then the offender would be put on a "hate-crime" list).

I'm sorry you had to come across this racist fcuk. Props to you for not letting it get out of hand.

Of course there are many people that will tell you that there is no more racism in this country. The great majority of them will never know what it is like...

Thanks for all the thoughtful replies guys! I miss all the comradre around here! The damage didn't seem to bad, looks like I might get a new rear bumper because he hit the side of it and cracked some of it and scratched part of the passenger rear quarter panel and scuffed the wheels. Well, I just got off the phone with his insurance and they are coming to look at the car today :-) They already accepted responsibility because of the witness, even though this guy tried to deny fault lol. What a clown is all I can think of him. Well, again thanks for all the support and positive comments guys!

Sorry to hear about that! Wow, I still don't get how it was a "racist slur" can someone care to tell me?

 

It's called class, I didn't post the racist slurs he was yelling at me in the store ;-)
