Default Reagan and crazy people on the radio

Reagan is everywhere. TV, radio, print, etc.

Driving into work today, a radio station that normally play's 90% music was all talk today. The 3 DJ's were going at it non stop on how a monster Reagan was. They fielded anti Reagan calls and stomped on callers that dissagreed with them.

Some of the "information" these DJ's were sending out on the airwaves:

- Reagan was responsible for flooding south central LA with crack cocaine.

- Reagan got rid of afterschool programs which promoted people to sell drugs and commit crimes in the streets.

- Oil company by-product is used to make crack so the Bush family benefited from all of this as well.

What the hell is going on? Are these people crazy? Do they actually BELIEVE in this stuff?

I think DC Metro area explains much of it. Did not like Reagan when he was president, thought he was a douche bag. Then I grew up. Good man. As you can tell from the radio, some people never grow up.

On the flip side though, you should never listen to the wacko true believers on either side. Some people believe Clinton was having people murdered (Ron Brown, Vince Foster etc.) Thats a little far fetched. Zealots of any sect often mislead or are out and out liars.

I was shocked that a music station suddenly became ultra left politically.

These DJ's were adults sprewing out information that didnt even make logical sense and they were being very racist and insulting to callers that did not agree with them.

Sounds like ratings suicide.

IMO whatever broadcast "police" exist within that zone should be taking public action to make it clear that the radio is not a soap box for djs to vomit their propaganda in a one sided abuse of power/position.

The DJ's weren't completely off-base (except for the crack-comes-from-oil bit).

There was a scandal regarding the CIA turning their heads to (or even actively engaging in ) the selling of crack.

Reagan tried to abolish the Department of Education and attacked the Head Start program.

If you don't like what they're saying, change the channel.

This is one of the greatest things he ever attempted...too bad it failed. Head Start is pure evil.

It's the same bs as these other school programs training kids to be little Nazi's by turning in their parents for drugs and guns.

I agree with this statement but from the description in the first post, I dont feel that this is a clear case of free speech. Broadcasters must abide to certain standards etc just like tv, you cant chuck whatever you like on at 6pm and say if you dont like it change the channel, its not right, its the vibe

Don't get me wrong, these guys definitely have a right to voice their opinion, but blowing off people who disagree is immature political bullying that only discredits their opinion.
