I believe people can and do change. What I thought 15 years ago differs greatly from what I think now... except that Democrats are the Devil!(tongue-in-cheek humor taken from the Waterboy movie, so don't get your panties in a wad!)

A person that cannot accept that they are sometimes wrong and amend those wrongs or prevail by not repeating them, is not a person that is a great leader... usually. I say usually because sometimes a democracy is not the answer. Sometime strong-willed action is called for and times/situations dictate such. I've gone off on another tangent.

Sublime- when was the last time you felt like a President actually cared for anyone on a individual level? Just curious. I'm on my 8th President. None made me feel any better than President Reagan. Perhaps he had that "grandfather" quality about him, shaking his head side-to-side as he talked with warmth in his voice and both tough-love and compassion in his eyes.

Or maybe I connected with him because he built up our national defenses, and I really wanted to kill someone.

I like Clinton, Ronnie and JFK. They all added and that in my view is a good thing. People should leave the world better than they found it. Ronnie did do some of that.

JFK and Clinton. Only one thing comes to mind that those two had in common besides a donkey for their political party's mascot and that would be marital infidelity. Regardless of any good they did, that is one of the first things I think of when I hear those two names.

And for the record, I have some respect for President Kennedy despite his family's crooked dealings. I have none for Slick Willy.

And that is what makes this country great. Freedom of expression.

dbjb, glad to see that you can see passed all the smoke.

Who was Regan and what was so great about him?

Btw, Clinton was the greatest president ever; much greater than Washington, Lincoln, or you name it.

Some good articles on Reagan here. If you're curious why he was a great man.

"Some people believe that Bill Clinton is the next Thomas Jefferson, well Mr. Clinton, let tell you something, I knew Thomas Jefferson......"

Always loved President Reagans sense of humor!
