I feel sad and have sympathy for everybody. It was on NPR today. It's really sad for everybody but the thought of the husband having to endure this since 1990 is overwhelming. I wouldn't want to be a vegi and I definitely wouldn't want someone to stay legally bound to me in my vegi state for that long. But as I'm writing this I realize that I too don't have a will. Maybe that is the law that they should pass, will is a must have if you want to make sure your family members will not have to endure this kind of suffering in case you become disabled in such a way that you staying alive means misery for them.

I don't care what most politicians say about any of this. They are all bought and paid for. They will say and do whatever it takes to get elected. That is just a fact backed up by most people, history and the nature of the beast. The poll that I posted speaks for itself. With our huge fat obese government, the people's will matters little. Special interests and P.C. is what politicians thrive on. That too is documented regarding all political parties. Go along to get along. Once elected, there isn't that much difference in any of them. Regardless of political affiliation, race or creed. Answer one question. Why would anybody spend 10s of millions of dollars to get elected to an $80,000/year job? Politics blow! That's what I meant by "let me off."

Alas, neither of these is insurance against lawsuits filed by those who know better than you do what's best for you.
