Is it really too late to save her?

You know, I just realized there's a major flaw in my argument. Leave it to me to apply human feelings and traits to a non-person.

She's brain-dead in a vegetative state. She died 13 years ago and her body simply hasn't got the message yet. So she's a non-person. Therefore I could care less as to what happens to what is essentially the slab of meat (or breathing corpse) they they are arguing over.

The husband should get a court order declaring her legally dead (if he hasn't already). If that's the case, he can remarry and rest assured that she is dead.

The parents can continue to do whatever they want, and of she happens to stop breathing or otherwise expire, they can have her bronzed or hermetically sealed in acrylic if they still want to keep her around.

I don't think declaring her dead is a requirement for him to remarry and move on. In fact, he could have divorced her any time during the past 13 years or so. Yet, he refused to do so. Why?

I answered that in the previous two posts, or at last asked the same question that leads to the answer.

What it is could simply be stated as:

He does care for his wife, and the euthanization is just a last expression of his caring. Perhaps he does not want to see her sustained indefinitely by her parents and wishes to carry out her wish to not be on life-support.

The answer is so simple, yet no one sees it. Instead everyone jumps to any of the conclusions that the parents put forward on their web site.

I'm not saying the answer above is correct. It's also possible the parents are correct in this matter. Who knows? We certainly don't have enough information to make a proper decision, but the courts certainly had plenty of opportunity to do so. The courts even assigned their own independent physician to examine her and he came up to the same conclusion (PVS) as well.

There may be more to it than that. There's been allegations of spousal abuse by the husband and that the episode that caused the coma (heart attack caused by lack of potassium, IIRC) was due to her doing something (like dieting to lose weight) to please her husband.

I got this 3rd party, so take it with a grain of salt. It also might just be more propoganda (until verfied that is). But these are facts that can back up Gymniac's position, so they need to be addressed as well.

I'm not trying to crap on the dance floor in here, all I am saying is that these allegations were made as well. I'm just showing I'm not blind to information that's not backing up my opinion.
