Default Recommendations needed on portable audio device

I'm in the market to purchase a new mobile audio device soon. Probably an mp3 or md player. I was wondering which route is the best. Small mp3 players seem to be the trend right now, everyone has one! Please give me some reviews on them. Do some have slow upload speeds? Because I want one where I can dl some songs using the T3 connection at school and bring it home and upload them to my computer. Then I'll burn cd's etc. from the computer for the car. And use the player at school while I'm studying. Which one is the best bang for the buck? Coolest looking? Advice appreciated.

Apple iPod for Windows. Works well if you have a Firewire (IEEE 1394) Port.

I have this cool thing called a larynx. It plays any song I can think of with zero delay and an 23 year skip buffer. Terabytes of memory, very cool. best of all it was a gift from my parents. The only problem is with so much storage it can have trouble finding the right tune, sometimes it takes a lot of searching.

My money is on the iPod. Had one for almost a year now, and am still in love with it (which is something I cannot say for all the gadgets I have bought in my life!). Pricier than most of your alternatives, but well worth the money. Great sound, intuitive controls, easy navigation. And, generally speaking, I am not an Apple fan...

Make sure you get the 20 GB model. There's no such thing has having "too much storage".

iPod! I love my 10gb model.

Nope, just 1394. I use the port on my Audigy soundcard.
