Amazing scientific and technological feat. Unofficial top speed of 833mph!

Baumgartner really has a set of stones to attempt it.

I think you also have to recognize Joe Kittinger, who did something very similar 52 years ago, who was CapCom.

And lastly, since we are recognizing achievements in space. Chuck Yeager, who 65 years ago to the day, was the first person to break the speed of sound.

I was wondering if I could see a bow shock in front of his helmet.

This was awesome to watch yesterday... I skydived for the first time back in July and that was a crazy experience for me, I can't imagine doing this. I think the most intense part for me was when he was preparing to leave the capsule and jump, looking down at earth like that just had to be surreal. I'd also love to know what 700-800mph feels like

I watched it live. It was amazing to watch. I got very concerned when he started spinning around 700mph, particularly when the audio of him breathing cut out and they switched to video of the control room. I thought someone hit the delay because something catastrophic had happened. Video from his chest camera is out.
