RICE: MISUSED
I think this thread was to try to come up with things that aren't rice.
We can all come up with lots of ricety rice examples.
Here are my non-rice ones:
1) A big spoiler is not rice if it's being used for downforce.
2) Racing seats are not rice if being used for racing.
3) A loud exhaust is not rice if used to help provide audible driver feedback while racing.
Actually, I think all of those things are rice.
Justified rice, but still ricey. I love my rice rocket. Hahaha. I do choose to run SCCA stickers rather than tuner logos, though....

Ckit you're right it has nothing to do with the driver of the car, but its like car racism. Ignorant people call all japanese cars " rice rockets " or " ricers " or " rice burners ". That is racist. Its like me calling a camaro a fat honkey small dick mobile.
Maybe its a southern thing but its real common here in Florida. You could have the cleanest, fastest import in the world and youll still be put in the same category as an automatic accord with a body kit and wing.

Well to my understanding, "Rice" didnt originate as a racist term, but a means to describe the cheap products China could put out... low quality, low price on a massive scale.
Rice on a car, I would see as any cheap part that does not add performance, IE fart cans, grocery car spoilers on cars that do not need the downforce, hood scoops that dont utilize the ram air effect.
And to someone who isnt educated, and is caught up in the wrong ideas, they may describe and car produced in an asian country as a rice burner. But its obvious that many JP cars are now of super quality and performance. Education can cure ignorance but not bias.
And if its racist or not, people need to stop crying about racism, Americans are racist, Japaneese are racist, Germans are racist... hell racism exists all over the world so get over it. Just dont stoop to their level and give a racist the attention they would want.
So to me, rice can exist on imports and domestics, just cheap pos mods that add no performance to the car.

I don't think that's quite "FACT."
People of all races use the term to describe tuner cars... regardless of the race of the driver.
What is prejudice? Pre-judging. If I see a base cavalier with steel wheels rocking a mongo Pep Boys spoiler... I'm going to assume that it's for show and not for performance benefit. Am I pre-judging? I guess. Am I right? Probably.
If a stray dog comes up to me, growling and foaming at the mouth... am I going to say, "Well, maybe it's a highly trained Hollywood dog that isn't really rabid. I'm not going to judge it and I'll try to pet it on the head... we'll see what happens." Heck no! I'm going to run away like a little girl.

I guess I'll take back my K&N air filter and order it from a more reputable JDM company for 2x the price.
Did IQ's drop sharply while I was away?
Some of you arent understanding the concept of this. We ALL know that a fart can civic with a body kit and pep boys rims is rice. Im talking about how people would call a bonestock S2000 a rice rocket or rice burner.
